Opabinia is an animal after the Cambrian explosion of evolution, 542 million years ago. It had only one sole species, 'opabinia regalis' and is unrelated to any known phylum of current animals. Its body was less than 10cm, and it had five eyes, a mouth under the head and facing backwards, and a proboscis that probably passed food to the mouth. They had no legs and became extinct after the Cambrian period.
